Coffee Table book
One of the most remarkable sports writers ever to grace the hallowed grandstand of Saratoga was Vic Zast. Insightful, informed and saavy Vic knew and loved the sport of Kings and wrote about it with style and wit. He approached me one day and said he wanted to create the best book ever written on the incomparable Travers Stakes race - and he wanted me to illustrate it!
It took almost two years and two heart surgeries (!) to pull it all together. But, the result is a remarkable, colorful, comprehensive ode to the Mid-Summer Derby - the Travers Stakes.
Every year visitors and citizens of Saratoga Springs anticipate and collect the new Greg Montgomery Travers poster. But rarely has anyone seen the complete collection—the longest continuing series of sporting art in the world.
