Sunday, February 14th, the legendary writer Dick Francis died in his home on Grand Cayman Island. He was a wonderful man. I discovered his habit-forming murder mystery writing years ago, and read all I could find. Much later, when I was asked to create cover art for his books, my son and I went to visit him in his home on Seven Mile beach.

One of the most-beloved authors in the world, he created more than 40 books with plucky, unforgettable characters. He must have been one of those himself.
