Notes from the Field

Summer time and the season is upon us!

Hello, everyone!  I hope you are enjoying this time of year as much as I am. What a delight it is to be bathed in long days of sunlight, gentle rains (and the occasional downpour), too many cultural events to choose from, and the sheer enjoyment of seeing friends out and about!

We kicked off the season in mid-June with the release of this year’s Travers/Saratoga poster — “Record Breaker!”  We just had to show Arrogate, last year’s Travers winner, bursting from the poster frame in front of the famous Saratoga grandstand, thirteen-and-a-half lengths ahead of his rivals. There’s an added feature that shows the record-setting time, distance, and racing team. Truly a day for the record books!

We are pleased to announce this year’s signing events. Most of them are in Saratoga Springs and one is in Ballston Spa, but we have two for the polo aficionados among you in Northern Virginia —

• Friday, July 28, 7:00 to 9:00 pm — at Soavé Faire
• Saturday, July 29, 7:00 to 9:00 pm — at Spa Fine Arts
• Friday, August 4, 4:00 to 7:00 pm — Front Street Home for “First Friday, Ballston Spa”
• Saturday, August 5, 10:00 to 11:30 am — National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame
• Thursday, August 24, 7:00 to 9:00 pm — Crafters Gallery, Saratoga
  
• Saturday, August 26, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm — Saratoga Race Track - Outside the "Silks" gift store by Carousel stairs, ground floor.
  
• Thursday, September 7, 7:00 to 9:00 pm — Greenhill Winery, Middleburg, VA 
• Sunday, September 10, all day — Great Meadow, The Plains, VA for The Seventh Annual Polo Classic, a benefit for the National Sporting Library & Museum
